What the brief looks like

Twenty to sixty minutes of continuous ambience for a meditation, sleep or focus app. There can be no sudden level changes, no voices and no memorable melody. There should be no drums and no obvious section edges. The loop has to be seamless and background playback has to be efficient. The app charges a subscription, so the licence must cover commercial distribution. Clients also ask for shorter segments for free previews.

Tool combination

Generate several minutes at a time with Suno or Udio and layer them into the full length in Ableton Live or REAPER. Build drones and filtering in Serum or Vital. Steps

Choose key and timbre, then pick three to five drone layers. Generate three-to-five-minute sections with no rhythmic or melodic hook. Crossfade sections into twenty to sixty minutes with five seconds of head and tail. Check level minute by minute for bumps. Place the loop point on a zero crossing and end tails early. Make five-, ten- and twenty-minute previews. Master between -18 and -20 LUFS.

Acceptance criteria

Total length matches the brief within two seconds. There are no sudden transients, and level between adjacent ten-second windows varies by no more than 3 dB. Three consecutive passes over the loop point produce no audible seam. There are no voices and no recognisable melody. Loudness is -18 to -20 LUFS with true peak no higher than -1 dBTP. The licence covers commercial subscription and offline caching. Loop points and fades are written into the delivery notes. Files are 44.1 or 48 kHz at 16 or 24 bit. Segments and the full version are both delivered.

Common rework causes

A hummed vocal appears in the generation. The seam breathes and is audible the moment the room is quiet. Too much low end makes headphones feel stuffy. The mix sits at -14 LUFS and feels loud for sleep. The file is so large that the app loads slowly. The licence covers personal use only and the store rejects it.
