Platform Terms
Terms are not about features but about what you upload, take away and leave behind

The problem
Signing up for an AI music service usually means ticking two boxes nobody reads. The terms decide very concrete things. Whether your uploads are used for training, whether the output can be used commercially, and whether your project survives if the service closes. These are workflow risks rather than legal footnotes.
How it works
Four clauses matter most. Ownership and licence, since many services say you own the output while asking you to grant them a licence to display it and improve the service, and both sentences can be true at once. Commercial use, which the free tier often forbids or makes conditional on credit. Use of your uploads, whether they train models, whether a human reviews them, how long they are kept. Termination and export, whether project files, stems and version history can be taken out when an account is closed or a product is retired. Terms also change, usually on a continue-to-use basis, so check the effective date and keep a copy.
Practice
Copy the key clauses into your project notes with the date and link. Confirm you have the rights to whatever you upload, other people's raw vocals, unreleased demos and client references should not go up casually. Before a commercial job, confirm the current plan allows commercial use, and upgrade or switch if it does not. Export project files and stems regularly, and never keep the only copy in the cloud. When a team shares an account, record who accepted which version. If a clause is unclear, email and keep the answer. For large or exclusive deals, have a lawyer read it, since consumer protection and contract rules differ by jurisdiction.
What to listen for
Between the standard and remastered Ballade recording, the notes are identical while the master and the rights version are not. In the ensemble Maple Leaf Rag, the extra labour when the same piece changes instrumentation. In the Beethoven symphony, how a public-domain work is repackaged by one specific production. Before uploading, know which layer you are holding.
