Choosing Tools for a Sample Pack
A sample pack sells licensing and metadata, not file count.

What it lets you finish
Three jobs: eight usable hi-hat variants for a trap track; fifty drum one-shots to sell; one melody loop with an old-record feel. All three answer the same question: whose files are these, and may they be redistributed. Without an answer, volume means nothing.
How it works
Four routes, judged on control, deliverable, learning cost and rights exposure.
Generative sampling, meaning text-prompted one-shots and loops from services such as Stable Audio, gives low control: duration, key and tail are all trial and error. The deliverable is a wav fragment and you supply the metadata. Learning cost is lowest. Risk is highest, because whether the terms allow redistributing outputs to other people must be read line by line.
Recording your own, on drums, a DI guitar or a modular rig, gives the most control: multiple microphones, velocities and layers are all yours. The deliverable is a set carrying tempo, key and loop points. Learning cost is highest, since recording, cutting and mapping all take practice. Risk is lowest.
Separating from existing recordings with Demucs or LALAL.AI gives medium control, since cleanliness depends on the original mix. The deliverable is a fragment. Learning cost is low. Risk is highest, because sample clearance does not disappear when the fragment is short.
A commercial library plus variants gives medium control, mostly choosing and adjusting. The deliverable is licensed library material plus your edits. Learning cost is low. Risk is low, provided two lines in the end-user terms are read: whether redistribution is allowed, and whether the material may be used for training.
Limits and traps
First, loop points. Whether a sample is usable depends on zero crossings and tails, not timbre. Second, specs. Mixing 48 kHz with 44.1 kHz files makes users fight the grid, and undocumented velocity layers and round robins amount to no pack at all. Third, rights: selling a pack is redistribution and is judged far more strictly than private use.
Do not separate fragments from streaming or commercial records and sell them as a pack. Do not sell generated fragments as your own samples before the terms are confirmed. Do not ship 16-bit loops without tempo and key. Do not rename one loop and call it two products.
Alternatives and pairings
For a distinctive sound, record it yourself; for volume and speed, start from a commercial library and edit; for an old-record feel, separate with Demucs or LALAL.AI and clean, with clearance first. The usual pairing: a library for the base, your own recordings for character layers, a service such as Stable Audio only for variants.
First three things to learn
Learn to cut on zero crossings, to write tempo and key into every file, and to put the licence text inside the pack. Then read this site's pages on sample generation, formats and stems, and stem-level editing.
